Install TREX IPTV on a Fire TV Stick

Fire TV runs a version of Android, so it uses the same universal build as phones and tablets. Amazon does not carry IPTV players in its own store, so the app is installed with the free Downloader app.

Getting started

  • Any Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube.
  • The Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore (free).
  • Your TREX username and password from the welcome email.

When the app asks for a Host or Provider, type this:

It is not a web address. In the Host, Server or Provider field, type the single word below — then your username and password from the welcome email.

trex lowercase, no spaces, no www and no .com

How it works

1

Install Downloader

From the Fire TV home screen, search for "Downloader" and install the orange app by AFTVnews.

2

Turn on app installation

Go to Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, and switch on "Install unknown apps" for Downloader. On newer sticks Developer options only appears after you open Settings, My Fire TV, About and click the Fire TV Stick name seven times.

3

Enter the download link

Open Downloader and type: https://trex-iptv.site/download/trex-android — then press Go and wait for the download to finish.

4

Install the app

Choose Install when prompted, then Done, and delete the installer file when Downloader offers to clear it. Storage on a stick is tight, so this is worth doing.

5

Type trex in the Host field

On the sign-in screen the first box is labelled Host, Server or Provider. Type the single word: trex — all lowercase, no spaces, no www and no .com. It is a keyword, not a web address, and typing a full address there is the most common reason sign-in fails.

6

Enter your username and password

Use the username and password from your welcome email, exactly as they were sent. They are case-sensitive, and a capital letter added by autocomplete is the second most common reason a login is refused.

7

Wait for the channel list and guide to load

The app loads your channels first, then the programme guide. The guide is the bigger file and can take a minute on the first run. Leave the app open until both have finished; after that they refresh in the background.

8

Set up your favourites

Mark the channels you actually watch as favourites and hide the groups you never open. A shorter list loads faster and is far easier to move around with a remote.

Frequently asked questions

No Developer options in the menu: open Settings, My Fire TV, About, and click on the device name seven times to reveal it.

The stick runs out of space: uninstall apps you do not use. A Fire TV Stick has very little storage, and installs fail silently when it is full.

The app is slow on an older stick: lower the buffer and turn off any background apps. First-generation sticks struggle with high-bitrate channels.

Login refused: check the Host field says exactly trex — lowercase, nothing else. Then retype the username and password slowly, watching for extra spaces and letter case. If it still fails, check your subscription is active in your account area.

Channels are listed but nothing plays: try a different channel first. If none play, test your internet in another app, then switch the decoder between hardware and software in the app settings.

Stuttering or buffering: increase the buffer size in settings. On Wi-Fi, move closer to the router or use an ethernet cable — live TV is far more sensitive to a weak signal than video on demand.

Programme guide is empty: open settings and trigger a manual EPG refresh, then give it a minute.
