Install TREX IPTV on an Android TV or TV Box
This is the build for Android TV boxes and Android-powered smart TVs. Because TV boxes do not have a normal browser, the file is installed with a small helper app called Downloader — about five minutes from start to first channel.
Getting started
- An Android TV box or Android smart TV.
- The Downloader app (free, from the Google Play Store on your TV).
- Your TREX username and password from the welcome email.
- A stable internet connection — ethernet if the box has a port.
When the app asks for a Host or Provider, type this:
It is not a web address. In the Host, Server or Provider field, type the single word below — then your username and password from the welcome email.
trex
lowercase, no spaces, no www and no .com
How it works
Allow apps from unknown sources
On your TV go to Settings, then Security & restrictions (sometimes under Device Preferences), and turn on "Unknown sources" for the Downloader app. This is what lets the TV install an app that did not come from the Play Store.
Install the Downloader app
Open the Google Play Store on your TV, search for "Downloader" by AFTVnews, and install it. It is a simple browser and file installer built for remote controls.
Enter the download link
Open Downloader and type this address exactly into the URL box: https://trex-iptv.site/download/trex-android-tv — then press Go. Take your time with the on-screen keyboard; a single wrong character is the usual cause of a "page not found".
Install the app
The file downloads, then the TV asks whether to install it. Choose Install, wait for it to finish, and pick Done. You can then delete the downloaded file when Downloader offers — the app itself stays installed.
Type trex in the Host field
On the sign-in screen the first box is labelled Host, Server or Provider. Type the single word: trex — all lowercase, no spaces, no www and no .com. It is a keyword, not a web address, and typing a full address there is the most common reason sign-in fails.
Enter your username and password
Use the username and password from your welcome email, exactly as they were sent. They are case-sensitive, and a capital letter added by autocomplete is the second most common reason a login is refused.
Wait for the channel list and guide to load
The app loads your channels first, then the programme guide. The guide is the bigger file and can take a minute on the first run. Leave the app open until both have finished; after that they refresh in the background.
Set up your favourites
Mark the channels you actually watch as favourites and hide the groups you never open. A shorter list loads faster and is far easier to move around with a remote.
Frequently asked questions
The install is blocked: go back to Settings and confirm "Unknown sources" is enabled specifically for Downloader, not just in general.
The app will not open on an older box: this build is made for 32-bit TV hardware, which covers almost every TV box. If it still refuses, try the mobile build and tell us your box model.
Login refused: check the Host field says exactly trex — lowercase, nothing else. Then retype the username and password slowly, watching for extra spaces and letter case. If it still fails, check your subscription is active in your account area.
Channels are listed but nothing plays: try a different channel first. If none play, test your internet in another app, then switch the decoder between hardware and software in the app settings.
Stuttering or buffering: increase the buffer size in settings. On Wi-Fi, move closer to the router or use an ethernet cable — live TV is far more sensitive to a weak signal than video on demand.
Programme guide is empty: open settings and trigger a manual EPG refresh, then give it a minute.
Still stuck: message us on WhatsApp with the device you are using and what you see on screen, and we will walk you through it.
